In my country, the USA, today, September 11th is a day of remembrance and reflection. Fourteen years ago as a nation we were fused together by tragedy. To those who lost loved ones that day, blessings on the still tender ache in your hearts. To those who were first responders: firefighters, EMTs, police and others, thank you and may the lingering physical and emotional effects of your valiant work be healed and you be cared for as you cared for so many. As we move further in time from that day, may the citizens and residents of my country, and the government that represents us, come to wisdom and understanding of what happened in the long context of history. I am still grateful for the outpouring of support and kindness we received from much of the world in the aftermath. May our painful experience give us compassion for others around the world who are fused together by current tragedies.
