In the Celtic Wheel of the Year, here in the Northern Hemisphere, it is Beltane (it is Samhain in the Southern Hemisphere). Beltane is a time of Maypole dancing, of flower crowns, of celebrating and honoring the work of bees and other pollinators making an abundance of food and life possible through the sweet gathering of nectar. Beltane is a time of riotous color and fertile possibilities acted on or merely imagined. It is a time for we humans to especially notice our sexual health and expressions whether that is in relationship simply with ourselves or with a partner or partners (delighting in the range of human sexuality from those of us who are asexual to those of us who are pansexual). Beltane is a time to marvel in our creative juices as artists, activists, cooks, creative small business owners, parents, gardeners, public servants, compassionate bus drivers. Blessings to you this Beltane, blessings to you in this time of riotous color and fertile possibilities. And of course to my friends in the Southern Hemisphere many blessings this Samhain!
